Technical Product Manager 

COMPAREX is a global cloud solutions and licensing provider with a 30 year history of partnering with medium-sized and enterprise organizations, as well as nonprofit and public sector organizations worldwide. To further strengthen our team, we are looking for a technical product manager for the continued development of our cloud-based managed service offering for software asset management. This position can be located anywhere within the US.

Your task as a Technical Product Manager includes the technical development of our existing and new products, and will work closely with our business product management team. As a technical product manager, you define the detailed requirements for the development of software applications by our software development team from the license management specifications of software manufacturers, as well as from the specifications of our product board.

Through your market experience, contacts with customers and leading software vendors, you’ll help our company improve our software asset management solutions and provide new functionalities to meet the evolving needs of our customers. In order to develop innovative solutions and products efficiently, it is your task to define the key performance indicators (KPIs), limit values ​​and the measures to be taken when exceeding the limits for your product and your technical product team. Together with the technical product team, you also define the assessment scheme according to which the requirements and work packages are prioritized to 100% on a market-by-priority basis.

The management of the estimation of expenses and risks - together with our software development team - is as much a part of your tasks as the regular status report to the product board, the development management and other stakeholders in our company

You must be an outstanding communicator as you’ll be interacting with various departments of the company. Internally and externally, you are an evangelist for your product or solution.

In the role of the technical product manager, you are primarily responsible for organizational, economic activities and, together with the colleagues in software development, are responsible for a 100% market-oriented technical solution.

Your responsibilities:

  • Continuous identification of market and customer requirements, as well as current trends and developments through the regular communication with our technology partners such as Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, etc.
  • You are the main product management partner within the technical product team / software development team
  • You create detailed product and functional specifications and release the development of new functionalities and releases
  • You create and edit Product Backlog entries with the detailed description of the applications, features, or functionalities to be created by our software developers
  • You define the removal criteria for the applications, features and functionalities created by our software developers
  • Regular status matching with the software development team during the development process
  • Creation of technical documentation, product descriptions, user manuals and release notes
  • You and the entire software development team are responsible for quality and functionality for the defined target groups, and are responsible for final approval before each new software release
  • Regular status reports to the product board, development management and other stakeholders
  • Regular alignment with Business Product Management
  • Willing to travel approx. 20% of the time, to customers and non-customers both domestic and internationally

 

Your qualifications:

  • A degree in computer science, business administration, marketing or comparable
  • At least 3 years of experience in product management or ​​consulting and IT project management
  • Knowledge of data management processes, data governance organization forms, MDM, as well as the marketing and sales-oriented use of product information
  • Extensive professional knowledge in licensing management, software asset management, hard- & software inventory, contract management, and handling software licenses as part of the IT lifecycle management processes for medium-sized or large companies
  • Extensive experience with MS Office, especially PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Project, and are an effective communicator
  • Excel at growing interpersonal relationships
  • A high degree of self-initiative, motivation, negotiation skills and enforcement
  • Strong analytical, strategic and coordinating skills
  • Very good presentation and moderation skills
  • Product management certification (e.g. according to Open Product Management Workflow™) is an advantage
